Frequently Asked Questions

Psychologist or psychiatrist?
When it seems impossible to enter into an interactive discussion with the psychologist, that is, to listen and work in the aftermath of our session, then a meeting with a psychiatrist is recommended. The proposed medication helps to reduce the tension that hinders the interactive process. Thus, we can then work together in psychotherapy. We monitor in parallel with the psychiatrist and evaluate the progress of the treatment and the medication.

How do I know if I should see a psychologist?
A feature of our psychology before the first session is that we are tired of trying to "move" or "understand" a subject on our own. Usually, there is a period beforehand, during which we make various efforts to "overcome". We use the internet to read up on how we feel, we talk to friends, we look for different experiences to get away from what concerns us, we experiment with our ability to control it. When we realize that our anxiety persists and takes up more and more energy within us, then we need to ask for help.

It only happened to me once to feel so bad, do I need to start psychotherapy?
In situations of sudden psychological breakdown — such as panic attacks, fatigue, mourning, separation, natural disaster, illness, accident, quarantine, and other specific sources of stress — we seek help to make sure we understand our limits, our stamina, our need for control in our lives. With special relaxation techniques, such as the Autogenic Training technique, we can be trained to control our physical reactions, in order to avoid panic attacks or the sudden collapse of our psychology.

What happens in the first session?
In the first session there is an exploratory discussion about the issues that bring a person to the office. We move, depending on our subject, into the present and into the past, through a series of questions, which help to build the first foundations for our diagnosis and therapeutic goal.

How long does a session last?
The first appointment lasts 70 minutes. Scheduled treatment sessions last 60 minutes.

How often should I attend sessions?
The frequency depends on the therapeutic goal. The most common and effective frequency is once a week. This frequency gives rhythm to self-observation and develops self-knowledge in an ideal way.

How many sessions should I attend?
Treatment time is part of the agreement of our therapeutic goal. From time to time, we review the progress of the treatment together.

Can I have an online session?
Of course. We make appointments normally but we meet via the online platform we agree upon.

For couples therapy sessions, do we both have to be present at all the appointments?
Yes. Unless we have agreed on a number of individual sessions with each party.

How do I get to the office? Is there a car park nearby?
The Kerameikos Metro Station (Blue Line 3) is just a 7-minute walk from the office. Parking in the neighborhood is easy, except for night hours. There are also private parking facilities just 3 minutes from the office.

Is the space accessible to the disabled?
Accessibility is only possible for wheelchairs of a certain dimension, due to the buidlding's small elevator.

What are the payment options?
You can pay by credit card via POS or with cash.

Is there cooperation with EOPYY?
Insurance funds must cover part of the cost of treatment provided to children. For adults, it applies to some insurance funds.
